Each day at TEP is filled with learning, faith, and fun, giving children a safe, care space to grow and explore.

Every Moment Matters
at TEP

  • Free-choice time is used throughout the day to allow the kids to engage socially on their own terms. This allows them to be independent, and being in charge of their own choices.

  • Circle time is a time to bring the children together and begin their day. During circle time, children will learn the Pledge of Allegiance, days of the week, months of the year, calendar, letters, numbers, and other various concepts.

  • Each morning, children will enjoy a healthy snack before diving into our fun-filled day. Families will provide two healthy snack options for their child to choose from.

  • Table time is where children are broken into smaller groups and will use a variety of hands-on activities to work on various concepts introduced during circle time.

  • Each child will bring a lunch from home each day at Tonganoxie Early Prep. Please have food cut and placed in a lunch box with an ice pack ready to eat. Tonganoxie Early Prep does provide milk and water.

  • Children are broken into small groups and will rotate to different developmentally appropriate centers to reinforce the skills learned throughout the time at Tonganoxie Early Prep (both new skills and old). This hands-on learning will help teach the children learn skills like one-to-one correspondence, Fine motor, matching, opposites, and many other skills.

  • Each day at Tonganoxie Early Prep, there is a quiet rest time at the end of the day. We ask that the children rest, but are not required to sleep. Rest time is for 30-60 minutes each day. All Nap items are provided by TEP. Nap items will be sent home to be washed at the end of every week and returned the next school day. Children may bring a stuffed animal to snuggle with.

  • Kids love to play outside. There will be multiple times throughout the day, as long as the weather permits, where the children will get to let their imaginations go, have a chance to learn sharing, use large motor skills, and get in some physical fitness. If weather is Inclement, teachers will have various activities such as obstacle courses, or other engaging activities ready to go in Fellowship Hall.

  • During the day, the children will gather on the rug numerous times to listen to stories. The children will begin to learn comprehension, sequencing, comparing and contrasting, and character traits as they enjoy a variety of different types of stories.

  • Children will grow with God as they learn about different bible verses and stories. In addition, various Bible songs and prayers will be taught each month.

Two children are sitting at a table outside, coloring pictures with markers. One child has a purple sleeve and the other has a black sleeve with a leopard print pattern. There are various colorful markers in a container on the table, along with a tray holding a stuffed animal and a yellow paper lantern.
